The answer: some things, but less than I’d feared.
Like Dan, I was pleasantly surprised.
As someone who always buys the “best” iPhone, I’ve found that decision increasingly difficult over the last few years. With several models to choose from, each with its own trade-offs, “best” isn’t as obvious as it used to be. So far, my solution has been to default to the phone with the best camera. But the siren call of a new form factor is too strong to resist.
I have been bracing myself for the camera compromises that would come with “settling” for the iPhone Duo this year. The other trade-off I expected was water resistance. I often travel alone with my daughter, and I like to keep my phone close – even when we’re swimming. I worried the Duo would be a non-starter if I couldn’t take it everywhere.
Luckily, it has the same IP68 rating as the Pro iPhones. Now I just have to see if I can bring myself to dunk a $2000 phone..
