There’s definitely a pricing mismatch here. I don’t think there’s a case for video summaries for 2 to 5 cameras costing $30 to $60 a month if you don’t need the storage. I’ve stayed comfortably at the 2 TB tier for many years—now paid via an Apple One bundle—for personal and family storage, and for the number of cameras we have.
As someone whose entire house is connected to Apple Home – from lights and locks to thermostats, blinds, and four HomeKit Secure Video cameras – this is a real disappointment. Like Glenn, I’ve happily gotten by with the Apple One 2 TB plan for my family for years.
Hopefully this is a sign that Apple has some genuinely compelling features coming to its rumored cameras that will make the added cost feel worthwhile. 🤞
