John Ternus is quickly dashing the hopes of a lot of Apple enthusiasts and commentators (including mine) that a change in leadership might turn the ship around a bit. I’d hoped his hardware background would usher in less of the relentless money-chasing that has increasingly made Apple’s consumer and developer experiences worse.
Apple ties iCloud+ pricing to video summaries
There’s definitely a pricing mismatch here. I don’t think there’s a case for video summaries for 2 to 5 cameras costing $30 to $60 a month if you don’t need the storage. I’ve stayed comfortably at the 2 TB tier for many years—now paid via an Apple One bundle—for personal and family storage, and for the number of cameras we have.
